SHARING THE GOSPEL THROUGH GENEROSITY
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:6-8

As Christians, giving is an essential aspect of our faith and an expression of our love for God and others. The act of giving aligns with the teachings of Jesus Christ and reflects the nature of God, who is a generous and giving God. The Bible repeatedly emphasizes the importance of giving. In the Old Testament, God commanded His people to give a tithe, which was a tenth of their income, as an act of worship and obedience (Malachi 3:10). In the New Testament, Jesus affirmed the practice of giving and taught about the blessings that come from a generous heart (Luke 6:38).
5 WAYS TO GIVE
GIVE TO BUILD THE KINGDOM
God is the ultimate giver. He gave us the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, for our salvation (John 3:16). As Christians, we are called to reflect God’s generosity and love by giving sacrificially and cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:7). When we give, we imitate God’s nature and demonstrate His love to others.
Giving allows us to contribute to the well-being of those in need. Jesus taught us to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:31), and giving provides us with an opportunity to show compassion and alleviate suffering. Through our financial resources, time, talents, or possessions, we can help meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of others, thus reflecting Christ’s love.
A tithe is a specific form of giving that involves contributing a portion of one’s income, typically 10%, to the church or ministry. The concept of tithing can be traced back to the Old Testament, where it was a commandment given by God to the Israelites. Tithing is considered an act of obedience and worship, acknowledging that all we have comes from God. It is often seen as a way to support the work of the church and ensure its financial stability.
An offering, on the other hand, is a voluntary contribution given above and beyond the tithe. Unlike the tithe, which has a specific percentage attached to it, offerings are flexible and can vary in amount based on individual discretion and generosity. Offerings can be given for various purposes, such as supporting specific projects, missions, charitable causes, or responding to specific needs within the church or community. Offerings are seen as acts of giving from the heart, motivated by a desire to bless others and advance the Kingdom of God.
